Obituary of Lucile Koerner
Former life time resident M. Lucile Koerner, 96 passed away in Portland on March 8, 2013. She was born to True and Cleon (Morris) Partridge in Seattle on December 10, 1916. Lucile was called Mabel during her youth. She attended and graduated in 1936 from Seattle’s Roosevelt High School where she played on the girl’s basketball team; this led to a passionate love of the game. While in Seattle she attended the University of Washington for a year or so. She met I. John Davies in Los Angeles when they were both working for Sears. They married on August 1, 1940. Their children John and Mary were born in Los Angeles; another son Rick was born after a move to Eugene. Lucile and I. John Davies were divorced in the late 1950’s. She married Howard Dirks and divorced him several years later. On May 7, 1976 she married Ernie Koerner, they were together until his death in April of 1980. Ray Keen was a special friend for many years until his death. Lucile lived and worked in Eugene for over 68 years. She worked for the Lane County Assessor’s Office for many years until retiring in 1978. Lucile made many close friends, co-workers, and neighbors. She was a member of the Eagles; shot a hole in one on their course; and enjoyed their Saturday night dances. Lucile loved pinochle and watching U of O basketball. When she left Eugene in 2011 it was to be closer to her daughter in Portland. Lucile is survived by her three children, John Davies of Seattle, WA; Mary McWilliams of Portland, OR; Rick Davies of Veneta, OR; many grand and great grandchildren; and a sister, Jane Dykgraaf of Grand Rapids, MI.
