Obituary of Eugene Cooley

Eugene (Gene) Cooley, born April 21, 1928 in Garibaldi, Oregon passed away on May 4, 2013 at the age of 85. Gene is survived by Elsie Cooley wife of 65 years; son Arnold Cooley; daughter Brenda Stayner and son-in-law Jerry Stayner; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, brother Don Cooley of Sheridan, OR and sister Arlie Pio of Vancouver, Washington. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Pearl Cooley of Vancouver, Washington and brother Bud Cooley. Gene was a member of the Springfield Elks for 35 years and The Eagles Lodge of Springfield where he and Elsie enjoyed dancing every weekend. He was the proud owner of a 1941 Hollywood Graham automobile which he restored in 1977. He also belonged to the Emerald Empire Vintage Auto Club and won numerous trophies at car shows in the area. Until retirement, Gene worked at Lane Meat Co. The Visitation will be held on Friday, May 10th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at West Lawn Memorial Funeral Home.
