Obituary of Charles Lake

Charles Emery Lake of Eugene passed away April 24, 2013 at the age of 85. He was born April 18, 1928 to Emery D. and Margaret L. (McClain) Lake. He was a lifetime resident of Eugene. Charles married Jean Maughan on June 14, 1947. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2000. He started his work career installing monuments and memorial markers for Eugene Granite & Marble works which was owned by his family since 1891. He then went to work for Lane Plywood, retiring after 35 years. Charles was a member of the Willamalane Archers, Cascadian Bowmen, the Oregon Bow Hunters and the N.F.A.A. He was an accomplished archer at both tournaments and bow hunting. On July 19, 2006 he married Shue Yang of China. Charles was a generous man with a big heart, who helped many people with contributions to numerous organizations. He was also very proud that he had donated 86 units of blood. He is survived by his wife Shue Lake of Eugene. Children: James Lake, Joseph Lake and Jacque (David) Seim all of Eugene and Johnny (Martha) Lake of Coburg. StepSon: Mengyang Zhao of Eugene. 8 Grandchildren, 17 Great –Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jean, Sisters: Ruth Holmes and Evelyn Malkasian, brother: Ralph Lake. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 5:30pm at the SGI-USA Community Center, 2160 West 11th Ave Suite B. All are invited to attend. A private family inurnment will be at the Eugene Pioneer Cemetery.
