Obituary of Charles Guptill
Charles “Chuck” Guptill passed away May 20, 2013 from cancer. He was 76. A graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park Wednesday May 29, 2013 at 2pm. Inurnment to follow. Chuck was born February 24, 1937 in Wanblee, South Dakota to Grenfall “Gup” and Faye Guptill. He grew up in Klamath Falls, OR. but spent most of his life in Eugene, OR.He graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1955 and attended 1 year of college at Oregon State University. Chuck was married to his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Nancarrow for 27years & later divorced.He served in the US Air Force from 1957-1961 with Strategic Air Command (SAC) Bomb Navigation.He began his career as an installer for Pacific Northwest Bell in Klamath Falls, OR. He was promoted into management and retired as a supervisor from Qwest. Chuck was the president and very active in the Downtown Eugene Lion’s Club. He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. He loved spending time with his granddaughters, hunting with his brothers and was very handy with tools and was a craftsman.He is survived by his daughters Lori Ilg of Monmouth OR. and Terri Hatleberg (Jeff) of Eugene, OR.; 4 granddaughters Katie Ilg; Taylor Hatleberg; Carly Ilg and Jordan Hatleberg; 3 brothers; Bengy Guptill of Danville, CA.; Terry Guptill of Bonanza, OR.; Robert Guptill of Issaquah, WA.; sister Sharon Varnell of Arlington, WA and former wife Carolyn Guptill of Salem Oregon.Memorial contributions can be made to Cascade Hospice or Willamette Valley Cancer Institute.Musgrove Family Mortuary is taking care of the arrangements.
