Obituary of Carl Bolan

Carl R. Bolan passed away June 6, 2013, at the age of 81 at home with his wife at his side. Carl was born in Harrisburg, PA on January 1, 1932 to John and Anna Bolan. He attended school in Chambersburg, PA and entered the Air Force in 1951. He earned his associate’s degree from Southern Oregon College in 1954 and married Sylvia Richardson in 1955. They had two children together, Elaine and Larry, and two grandchildren, Troy and Drew Johnson. In 1988, Carl married his next door neighbor, Donna Cowles, and became the step-father to 11 more children. Carl started his career as a manager at McKay’s Market, but spent most of his career working for Allstate Insurance. He loved fishing, golfing, traveling, joking around, and showing magic tricks to his grandchildren. He will be remembered for always putting others first and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Donna, his 13 children, his 27 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at St. Peters Church at 1150 Maxwell Rd. on Saturday, June 8 at noon. Refreshments will be served after the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Hospice.
