Obituary of James Britt

JB was a special boy, whose short life guided his family on a path we never expected to travel, and changed us in ways we could never have imagined. He was born August 7, 1996 in Eugene to parents Lori Chaffin-Britt and James Britt, III. He passed away at home on June 5, 2013 at the age of 16.Born with Roberts' Syndrome JB taught us that a smile could make our day - that his laugh was the best sound we could hear and when he communicated with those big brown eyes - we knew exactly what he was saying. He taught us to be strong - to defy the odds - to love unconditionally. JB illuminated a sense of tenderness, love, and joy from all those who knew him – a sweetness we don't see enough of in life. He made our hearts smile.JB attended the Vivian Olum Child Development Center, ECCARES at Westmorland Elementary and Riverbend Elementary School.He is survived by his mother Lori and her partner Dave Brusasco of Eugene, his father James and his fiancée Mary Roney of Portland, his brother Kai Brusasco of Eugene, grandparents Ed and Polly Chaffin of Dexter, Sandra Ford and James Britt, II of Portland. He is also survived by his Aunts Sheri, Cindy, Xie, Veronica and Diana, Uncles Robb, Sekou, Lumumba, Kevin, Louis, Leonard and Lucky, and Cousins Lily, Ibrahim, Aedrian, Louie, Jada and Kaitlyn. JB was predeceased by Aunt Margie.His family is grateful to all of the caregivers, doctors, nurses, teachers, hospitals and schools who helped beat all odds to make JB’s life the best it could be while he was with us. JB’s passing is a reminder to us all to cherish those we love and hold close. Private remembrances have been held by the family.In honor of JB’s memory donations can be made to assist with medical expenses for Rylan Karrer, another wonderful child who is struggling to survive. The 10-year old son of a dear friend and Pleasant Hill High School graduate Kristi Manewal Karrer, Rylan has been waiting for a heart transplant for two years.
