Obituary of Marie Brown

Marie Agnes Brown was born 7 December 1929 at Devils Lake, North Dakota. She was the third child of Edwin and Agnes (Welk) Zeigler. The family moved to Oregon when Marie was 12. She passed away peacefully 13 June 2013 with family at her side.Marie married George A. Brown 22 February 1948 in Salem. They had two daughters, Christine (Larry) Johnson of Lebanon and Candace (Anthony) Fairchild of Eugene. The Browns lived in Dallas, Oregon until moving to Eugene in 1963.Marie worked in the restaurant industry until her retirement. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, traveling and visiting the beach. She was a great cook, seamstress and handicrafter. Many of her family enjoyed vegetables from her garden and some of the more than 40 quilts she hand pieced after retirement and gave as gifts.Survivors include three sisters: Betty Armstrong of Klamath Falls, Josephine Loyd and Patricia Dahlen of Salem; a brother, Richard Zeigler of Prineville; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.Marie was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister, and two nieces.A memorial service was held 15 June 2013.
