Obituary of Lai-Yu Chen

Lai-Yu Chen passed away June 16, 2013 from age related causes. She was 97. A private family service will take place and inurnment will be held Saturday June 29th at 9:30am at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Eugene, OR.Lai-Yu was born March 30, 1916 in Taipei Taiwan to Shi-Kwei and Sue-Jen (Chen) Shei. She graduated high school in Taiwan. Lai-Yu married Ching-Chung Chen May 20, 1938 in Taipei Taiwan. She and her husband immigrated to the United States in 1981 and settled in New Orleans, LA. before moving to Eugene in 1988.Lai-Yu worked in the bank administration in Taiwan. She was a wife and mother. She was very educated and talented. She was an amazing cook of traditional Taiwanese and Japanese foods. She also enjoyed painting, calligraphy, embroidering, gardening and playing the piano. She was kind and known for her generosity. She always greeted everyone with a warm smileLai-Yu is survived by her sons Hsin-Hsu Chen of Eugene, OR.; Hsin-Kwang Chen of Taiwan; Hsin-Hsien Chen of Taiwan; daughters Hsun-Hsun Yang of Eugene, OR.; Ching-Ching Huang of Eugene, OR.; Fen-Fen Mattamal of New Orleans, LA.; Chung-Chung Chen of Hayward, CA. and Christine Yamaguchi of Eugene, OR. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.Musgrove Family Mortuary is handling all the arrangements
