Obituary of Larry Polen

Larry Polen left his beloved family on June 27, 2013 after living with M.S. for 25 years. He was born December 5, 1943 to Ruth & Dell Polen in Vancouver, Washington. He was the youngest of 5 children. Larry married his high school sweetheart Janie Anderson in 1962. They moved to Eugene/Springfield area where they raised their family. Larry started his retail career in 1964 with Bi-Mart in Yakima, Washington. He was hired as their 1st buyer in 1967. He continued to work with Bi-Mart for 20 years. Larry started his own company of retail stores in 1985, Oregon's Own Dollar Stores/Cash Connections and grew to 30 stores over the next 20 years. His success in business allowed he and Janie to travel throughout the world. After retiring, Larry enjoyed any activities that included his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Janie; son, Scott Polen (Lara) of Prineville; three daughters: Susie Polen, Mary Jane Wilson (Michael) and Wendy (Steve Rupp) all of Springfield; and 12 grandchildren. Larry had a unique sense of humor and was loved and respected by many. His life will be celebrated with a funeral mass, July 9th at 11:00 am at St. Alice Catholic Church.
