Obituary of Duane Wical

Duane M. Wical, age 78, passed away peacefully at home July 13, 2013. He was born October 14, 1934 to Lesie and Mabel Wical in Page, ND. Duane served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married his first wife Mavis Beil in 1956 and moved to the Northwest where he spent his entire 40 year career in the Forest Products industry until his retirement in 1996. He loved to spend time in the outdoors fishing and gardening, crafting in his wood shop, and baking his famous peanut butter chocolate pies. Duane was an avid car enthusiast and multi trophy winner for several years at Cottage Grove Speedway. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Kay; son, Jeff Wical; daughters, Jaci Briscoe and her husband Doug; Denise Wical and her boyfriend David; stepson Joe Davis; sisters Dorie Burdick and Joyce Gray, and his brother Loren Wical; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Cravens, stepdaughter Lonnie Davis, brother Lyle Wical and sisters Carol Miller and Joanne Wical. A memorial service will be held at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 11:00am.
