Obituary of Norma Harris
Norma Lea Harris, 83, of Lead, passed away August 7, 2013 at the home of her youngest son and daughter-in-law in Eugene, Oregon. Norma was born March 23, 1930 to Mary and A.M. Calhoon of Lead. She grew up in Lead and attended Lead High School. She married Everett Eugene Harris on Oct. 26, 1947. She moved to Elmira, Oregon in August of 1962 with her husband and two sons, Stephen and Douglas, where Everett had received a teaching and coaching position. Norma later became a teachers-aide at Elmira High School until she retired with Everett in 1985 and returned to Lead.Norma was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Scottish group “Bide-A-Wee,” the Golden Gang and she served many years at the Biker Breakfast during Rally week. Her favorite interest was always ‘the little children’ and she could never pass up anyone in need. Norma had to return to Eugene, Ore. in April of 2012 for health reasons.She is survived by two sons: Stephen (Carol) Harris, Enterprise, Ore., Douglas (Denise) Harris, Eugene, Ore. Two sisters: Verle Bauernfeind of Lead and Alice (Joe) Malt of Middlesex, NJ., Brother-in-law Delbert (Shirley) Harris, Rapid City. Five grandchildren Stacey (Josie) Harris, Troy (Gloria) Harris all of the Dalles, Ore., Chad (Teresa) Board, Edmund, OK, Selah (Larry) Lefebvre, Big Fork, Mont. and Tamara (Randy) Ford, Enterprise, Ore. and nineteen great-grandchildren.There have been no formal Memorial Services planned, but there has been a memorial established at Trinity United Methodist Church in the name of Norma Harris for the “Lord’s Cupboard.”
