Obituary of Robert Harmon Northrop

?Robert H. Northrop1925 - 2013Bob Northrop passed away at home from leukemia on August 21, 2013 at age 87. He was born in Corvallis on November 12, 1925 to parents Hazel Weber and F. Ford Northrop. He attended Edison Elementary School, Roosevelt Jr. High School, and graduated from University High School in 1943.During World War II he served on a US Navy troop transport ship, sailing both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1954, and married Keena Shaw in 1955. He worked for 30 years at Eoff Electric, retiring in 1988.Bob enjoyed camping, hiking, and climbing with the Obsidians outdoor club, of which he was a member for 60+ years until his death. He climbed the 10 major Oregon Cascade peaks, earning the club's Ten Peak award in 1957. He passed on his love of the outdoors to his three sons.Bob is survived by his wife Keena, his sister Hazel McLean, sons Steven (Becky), James, and Michael (Marcia), grandsons Jordan and Jared, two step-grand-children, and three step-great-grandchildren.
