Obituary of Frank Mavis Jurries
A memorial service will be held on Friday September 20th at 2:00PM at the West Lawn Memorial Chapel for Frank and Mavis Jurries Jr. of VenetaFrank passed away on September 5th of complications from cancer. He was 88.Frank was born December 24, 1924 in Parma Idaho to Franklin and Anna (Schultz) Jurries SR.He attended school through the 8th grade, and then went to work on the family farm. Frank served in the ARMY 1943-1946 during World War II and was stationed in Hawaii. After serving, he went back to ranching, worked a while for Georgia Pacific, and retired as a building Superintendent for the “BIG M” shopping center in Springfield, Or. His interest’s included fishing, farming, and working on various projects in his shop.Survivors include a son Dennis of Portland, Or. and a daughter Sandra Zieman (Duane) of Hillsboro, Or. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rhonda.Mavis passed away on September 6th of complications from cancer. She was 87.She was born January 29, 1926 in Twin Brooks, South Dakota to John and Vivian (Tassler) Morrison.She attended school through the 12th grade in Milbank SD. She worked as a grocery checker until she retired. Her interests included reading books, knitting, crocheting, collecting recipes, and shopping. She was a member of the Veneta TOPS club.Survivors include a daughter Darlene Olson (Neal) of Veneta, Or. and a son Dwight Wartenbee (Ginger) of Elmira, Or. and was preceded in death by her sons Richard, and Stanley Jr.Frank and Mavis married on December 31, 1965 and had been married for almost 48 years, and with combined families, they left 15 grandchildren, and 27 great- grandchildren.Their greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, and their two dogs Toby, and TootsieFamily and friends are invited for refreshments following Friday’s service at the funeral home.Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
