Obituary of Laurence Stribling

Laurence "Laurie" "Larry" J. Stribling was born December 17, 1940 in Santa Barbara California to William Henry Stribling and Viva Mae Lattimer Stribling Engel, and passed away September 11, 2013 in Eugene of cancer. Laurie grew up in Sutherlin Oregon, graduating in 1959. After graduation he joined the US Army and served until November 1962. September 2, 1962, he married Sharon Terrel in Sutherlin. After his discharge from the Army, he worked in the lumber mills before moving to Alaska in 1970. He became a mechanic and continued that work upon return to Springfield in 1976, retiring in 2003. Laurie is survived by his wife Sharon and sons Sean (Cari) who lives in Boise, and Stuart (Laura) who lives in Austin. Also brothers Ron Stribling (Ardena) and Doug Engel (Niki). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, four brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, in addition to other relatives and good friends. Laurie was preceded in death by his parents, and son Steven. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 2:00pm at Springfield Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life will be held on September 20th at 4:00pm at the Gainsborough Clubhouse, 2555 Lansdown Road in Eugene.
