Obituary of Elfi Thomas

Elfi Thomas of Eugene, beloved wife and mother joined her son Norman in Heaven on October 9, 2013 at the age of age 84. Elfi was born on November 13, 1928 in Bruchsal, Germany. She survived the second World War and supported her family for several years afterward. In 1953 she met Heinz Thomas and married him in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. They lived several years in northern Canada before moving to Oregon to raise a family in Coos Bay and then retired happily in Eugene. Elfi was the heart and soul of her family, she tirelessly cared for and loved them her entire life. Elfi read voraciously, loved needlepoint, painting, music and gardening. Her Christmas cookies and cakes were the stuff of legend, She is survived by her husband of 60 years, her son Rainer, daughter-in-law Lara, grandson Patrick, sister Irmgard in Germany, and by the many friends and extended family who knew and loved her. No services are planned? until we meet again, we'll miss you, we love you. Our family thanks the Acute Care for Elders at the downtown hospital for their compassionate care.
