Obituary of Rod Hockley

Rod Hockley age 67 died on September 29, 2013 from pneumonia & Infection. He was born in Eugene, Oregon on March 6, 1946 to Fred and Betty (Phelps) Hockley.A memorial service is planned for October 19th at 1:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church, 3455 Country Farm Rd., Eugene, OR. Burial took place on October 3rd at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, ORRod graduated from Thurston High School in Springfield, OR., in 1964. From 1966 to 1970 Rod served in the U.S. Airforce in Germany and North Africa.Rod married Karen Gail Foster on November 9, 1968, the couple would have been married 45 years in November.After serving in the Airforce, Rod worked for 20 years as an auto mechanic on domestic and foreign vehicles.In 1988 Rod received a Bachelor's Degree in Theology and was called to be Associate Pastor of Bayview Baptist Church in Astoria, Oregon, from 1998 to 2010. He and his family had a singing ministry until a massive stroke rendered him bedbound.Rod is survived by his wife, a daughter Jennifer Marie Hockley of Eugene.He was preceded in death by his mother and father Betty and Fred Hockley and sister, Sharron 'Hockley' Lemmons.Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
