Obituary of William Buttenhoff

William (Bill) Francis Buttenhoff, 76, of Springfield, OR passed away October 18th, 2013, of age related causes. He was born on August 22, 1937 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to Hazel and William Joseph Buttenhoff. Bill graduated from Sweet Home High School, Sweet Home, OR, class of 1956. Bill served in the US Army at Fort Lewis, Washington (6th US Army) for 3 years active as a construction heavy equipment operator, and another 3 years in the Reserves. Bill was a Core Layer by profession and worked at many of the lumber mills in and around Lane County.Bill was an avid fisherman and spent much of his free time in retirement tying flies for his friends and family. With his river boat, Bill loved drifting the Siuslaw River in search of big Silver Salmon.Bill loved spending time with his children and grandchildren passing on his fishing skills and knowledge of the great outdoors. One of Bill’s passions was cooking for his friends and family. Bill never met anyone he didn’t become friends with.Bill is survived by his beloved wife Beverly, his brother Darryl Buttenhoff (Wife, Shirley), his daughters Shelly Miller - Creswell, OR., Cindy McLain - Gresham, OR., Tammy Streeter - Eugene, OR., Billey Jo Baker - Vancouver, WA., his sons Dale Buttenhoff - Vancouver, WA., and Christopher Fraase - Springfield, OR. William had 10 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren.Bill will be greatly missed, but will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, those who knew and loved him.
