Obituary of Virginia Peggy Johnston

Our wonderful loving and caring Mother and Grandmother Peggy suddenly passed away on October 13, 2013 from age and dementia related issues.Virginia Lee (Peggy) Johnston was born in Anaconda, Montana on February 19, 1929 to Mildred and Charles Snow. She married George McLean in Missoula in 1947. In the following years she gave birth to five sons, Michael, Brent, Douglas, Kevin and Todd. They relocated to Eugene in 1964.Peggy married Clifford (Blackie) Cope in 1967. Clifford’s daughters Deanna, Sherri and son Rick plus the McLean sons created this large extended family. This family lived and grew up in the Thurston area of Springfield. Both Peggy and Clifford never missed one of the boys sporting events no matter where they were played. They were married until Clifford passed away in 1981.Peggy remarried again in 1988 to Edward Johnston until he passed away in 1999. Ed and Peggy had the “Original Irish Sundae” potato stand at lots of local events. They both loved working the fair circuit and numerous events for many years.Peggy recently lost her companion Ken Jantz on September 2, 2013. He was the most compassionate care giver and was such a joy in her life and to all of Peggy’s family. The love of their life together was “Ginger” a shiz tsu puppy dog.She loved her work at Wesco Cedar and all of the wonderful people that she worked with for over 30 years. She always considered all of her children and grandchildren as such a gift from heaven.There will be a mass and celebration ceremony at St. Alice Church on Friday at 11:00 AM, October 25, 2013. Peggy was a devoted member of St. Alice since 1969.I lieu of flowers please send a gift to any local Dementia Care organization.Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
