Shirley Teutsch-Clausnitzer, 84, of Orangevale, CA died Sunday November 10, 2013. She was born in Los Angeles, CA on November 22, 1928. Shirley attended Oregon State University as a Science major and was a member of the Alpha Chi Sorority. She met her late husband, Thomas L. Teutsch while attending OSU and they were married in 1948. Tom and Shirley had four children: Karen Henslee, Marcia Dietz, Theresa Bick, and Thomas Teutsch. Shirley’s first husband, Tom, died in 1993. Her oldest daughter, Karen, died two years later in 1995. Shirley was blessed to find love again later in life and married Vernon Clausnitzer of Orangevale in 1997. Shirley and Vern enjoyed their life together, playing dominoes, traveling, golfing at every opportunity, and socializing with their friends and family.Shirley was an avid golfer and incredible pilot. Her golf career started at the young age of ten. She was the Eugene County Club Champion 13 times, a member of the USGA (United States Golf Association), the OWGA Oregon Women's Golf Association) and she often volunteered for tournaments with the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association).Shirley’s love of aeronautics also started at a young age while touring The Dalles airport in Oregon with her elementary school. When her teacher was not looking, Shirley snuck away toward a man preparing his plane for flight. When the man asked if she would like to go for a ride, she quickly jumped in, much to her teacher’s surprise and chagrin. Shirley later obtained her commercial and instrument ratings. She was a member of the 99’s and accrued over 2,400 hours of flight time with trips to the Palm Desert, New York, Chicago, and Two to Alaska.Shirley lived a full life surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her husband Vern; daughters Marcia and her life partner Richard Kosesan of Salem; Theresa and her husband Don of Eugene; son Tom and his wife Lynda of Springfield; and two step-daughters Ginny Foth of Squim, WA and Susan Bailey of Sacramento. Her six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.A celebration of life will be held at St Paul Catholic Church with a Mass on November 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM; Location St. Paul Catholic Church, 1201 Satre Street in Eugene, OR.
