Obituary of Duane Halmrast

Duane Halmrast April 6, 1942 – November 24, 2013Duane was born in Powers Lake, North Dakota. He moved with his family to Eugene when he was in the 4th grade and attended Westmoreland grade school, Jefferson Middle School and graduated from South Eugene High School. Duane received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon in Business Administration. While walking on the college campus, he would run into Janie Vincent, a former classmate at SEHS. Duane and Janie were married in 1970. Duane worked on the natural gas pipelines in the Northwest and later went to work for Wildish before becoming involved in real-estate with Prudential. He was an avid Oregon Duck fan and he loved fishing the Oregon Rivers, golfing and especially snow skiing at various resorts with his son Cameron. He loved working around the acreage and helping with the animals. He especially loved his Weimaraner dogs and was a very devoted husband, father and friend and a member of Spencer Creek Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Janie, son Cameron of Eugene and his sister Brenda of Midland, TX. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Larry. The family of Duane wishes to thank Gateway Gardens and Signature Hospice for their loving care as his health declined. Services are planned for Saturday, December 7th at 10am at West Lawn Memorial Park, 225 South Danebo, Eugene 97402 with a reception following.
