Lorenzo Muller

Obituary of Lorenzo Muller

Lorenzo Charles Muller was born in Harlem, New York on August 17, 1939, the only son of Alexander & Ethel Muller. He lived and played in Harlem until he was 13 years old, when he and his family moved to Corona in the borough of Queens, New York. He graduated from Newtown High School in 1957. After graduating he started working for the New York City Transit Authority in 1967. He spent the early part of his career working on a maintenance crew to keep the trains running. He retired in 1997 after working 30 years as a supervisor for the Third Rail. Lorenzo is survived by his loving wife Jodie Muller, his daughters Lani Muller, Barbara Cayne, Molly Smith and Andrea McKinney; his sons, Todd Smith, Mike Nichols and Rob McKinney and eight grandchildren. Lorenzo and his wife moved to their current home along the McKenzie River in Springfield, Oregon in 2000. He loved his home on the river and his favorite pastime was mowing his lawn. He became known as “The Lawn Mower Man” in the neighborhood. His other passion was cars. He loved his cars and knew everything there was to know about them. He could tell you what kind of car was passing by the house just by the sound of it. Lorenzo was a very special guy. He was “old school” and always a gentleman. No matter where he went, he seemed to touch people in a way that was special only to him. His ready smile and gentleness contradicted his size. He was a big man who embraced life and lived to the fullest, loving to travel and hold court at his bar on the back patio. He loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, so it was so fitting that he left us on that day. He left this life as he lived it with dignity and grace, like the gentleman he was. While we will miss his presence, his spirit will always live within us and we will always be surrounded by his love forever. Go quietly into the night, The Boy from New York City. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 1st from 1-5pm at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home. Arrangements entrusted to Springfield Memorial Funeral Home.
