Obituary of Marion Kramer

Marion V. Richardson Kramer passed away graciously November 29, 2013 at the age of 91.Marion was born April 7, 1922 in Haynes, North Dakota to G. Burke and Victoria Richardson.In 1934 her family, consisting of 5 sisters and 1 brother, moved to Oregon. She graduated from Eugene High School in 1940. During WWII she worked at Mare Island Ship Yards, and was considered one of the original Rosie the Riveter’s.Marion was married to Robert R. Kramer and they later divorced. She is survived by son John Michael Kramer and his wife Jeanne, daughter Marguerite (Marg) Barth, granddaughters Michelle Palmer and her husband Brian, Alyson Barth, Molly Buergery and her husband Jesse, and Aubree Kramer; and her adored four great-grandchildren. Her son Larry R. Kramer preceded her in death.Marion worked at the original drive-up hamburger joint “Barney Cables” in the fifties. Upon finishing business school she worked for the State of Oregon until her retirement.She volunteered as a driver for Ride Source and Cancer Society, and McKenzie Willamette Hospital. Marion loved to garden and no weed was safe. Even on her walks she would pull random weeds from people’s yards. She was an avid reader, working her daily crossword puzzles. She was talented artistically, loved music and sang at Victory Varieties Benefits during WWII and other venues. She loved to travel and marveled at the beauty of nature.Services will be Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 10:00 am at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home, Springfield, Oregon, with private interment.
