Obituary of Pollard S. Thompson

Pollard S. Thompson of Springfield passed away December 16, 2013 at the age of 96. He was born April 17, 1917 in Princeton, Kentucky to Robert and Hattie (McConnell) Thompson. Pollard married Jewell Wilson in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on December 2, 1936. She passed away September 20, 1990. He worked as a tobacco farmer in Kentucky and then worked for 25 years at Weyerhaeuser, retiring in 1976. Pollard was also a charter member of East Side Baptist Church in Springfield. He loved to read his bible and enjoyed having coffee each morning at McDonalds. He is survived by two sons, Robert (Jeanine) Thompson and Cecil (Amelia) Thompson, both of Springfield; a daughter, Opal (Jack) Phillips, also of Springfield; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19th from 2-5pm at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be on Saturday, December 21st at 10:00am at the East Side Baptist Church in Springfield.
