Obituary of Marian Reid
REID: Marian Reid (Cook) passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at her residence, Dinsdale Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba, at the age of 98 years. She was born at Pleasant Lake, North Dakota on August 9, 1914. She came to Canada when she was three years old. Marian married Robert (Bob) Reid on March 1, 1932 in Verwood, Saskatchewan. They moved to Wawanesa, Manitoba in 1934. They sold the farm in 1965 and moved to 2147 Lyndale Drive in Brandon to retire. Marian moved to Dinsdale Personal Care Home on February 6, 2007. She is survived by daughter Agnes Sayer and her children Judy MacKenzie, Jenny Schroeder, Bonny Shaw and Peggy Symons; son Bud (Albert) Reid and his children Traci Aaron and Carla Jacobs; daughter Eleanor (Paul) Vanwynsberghe and their children Eric and Rick Vanwynsberghe; 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers. She will also be remembered by her Cowboy Brother, Bill Hammond (Cowboy Bill), who came every summer to help show ponies at the summer fair. Marian also leaves behind her Lyndale Drive neighbors known as the "Lyndale Family," as well as close friends of the family, John and Rita Snoeck, whom she was "Grandma" to as well. Marian was predeceased by her husband Bob Reid, daughter-in-law Marlene Reid, son-in-law Dave Sayer, her parents Rasmus and Albina Cook, one brother and five sisters. The family would like to thank the 3rd floor staff of Dinsdale Home for the special attention they provided for her during her stay there. A service to celebrate Marian's life was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on January 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Arlene Robertson officiating. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marian may be made to a charity of one's choice.
