Obituary of Sandor Szakaly
SZAKALY: Sandor passed away peacefully at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon, MB on August 29, 2012, at the age of 84. He left Hungary in 1956, with a short stay in Germany before immigrating to Canada in 1959, with his young family. He was well known in the construction industry, having been involved with numerous projects in Winnipeg, Brandon and surrounding areas for over fifty years. His life and interests were always centered on his family, in Canada and in Hungary. Sandor, Apu, Nagypapa, Papa will be remembered and missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ilona, his four children: Ilona (Bob), Sandor (Ildiko), Katalin (Vernon) and Ferenc. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Brandon Regional Health Centre and Assiniboine Centre for their exceptional care and support. A funeral service will take place Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10:30AM at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327-4th Street, Brandon. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery and a reception will take place at the George Brockie Fellowship Centre, 332-8th Street, Brandon.
