Obituary of Marley George Sherris

SHERRIS: Marley The beloved only son of Stuart and Ella Sherris, left the bonds of earth, on June 13, 2012 at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon. He is survived by many cousins and friends, both locally and elsewhere. Marley was born in Winnipeg and lived all his life in the Minnedosa district, attending school at Moore Park, Minnedosa and Brandon University. He spent some time in Oshawa, Ontario, working for Eaton's, an experience he enjoyed very much. He returned home to help his father on the farm. For several years, Marley assisted Joyce Stevenson at her Valley Royal Travel Agency. His travel agent status enabled him to enjoy the perks of visits to London, England, The Jersey Isle, Barbados, Hawaii and California, as well as British Columbia and Alberta. He always wanted to visit these places "one more time." His interest in local history saw him on the committee for the building of the Moore Park Cemetery Cairn, visitor's bookstand and ornamental iron gate. He was an avid reader of current events both local and international. He loved to write and receive letters from faraway friends and family and continued to do so until illness prevented. Marley was very fond of music and had an extensive collection of records, tapes and CD'S, many of which were later donated to the Minnedosa District Library. Marley was at his best entertaining his friends at home, or his cottage, often trying out new recipes on them, received from his Aunt Marion Cushing in Santa Monica, CA. His friends will always remember him as an excellent cook and host. Cremation has taken place and his ashes were interred with his Noble grandparents on June 20, 2012 at the Brandon Cemetery with Rev. Joe Ball from the Assiniboine Centre officiating.
