Obituary of Allen William Marchuk

MARCHUK: ALLEN WILLIAM MARCHUK July 2nd, 1945 - April 29, 2012. It is with great sorrow that Allen's family announces his passing after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Left to grieve are his soul mate Jan and his daughter Helen, as well with his siblings Irene (Bjarni) and Angie (Ken), his nieces Lynn (Kevin), Georgia (Robin), Tracy, Wendy (Brett), Nicole (Don), Kara and nephew Kris (Janelle). He also leaves behind his great nieces and nephews; Melanie, Demi, Garret, Madison, Dempsey, Rhett and Connor, along with all his extended family in Thailand. Allen was predeceased by his parents, William and Nellie and his nephew Craig Kindzierski. Allen was born and raised on the farm in Jaroslaw and ventured out obtaining his teacher certification and eventually his Masters Degree. Allen spent many years working as an Industrial Arts teacher with the Brandon School Division while honing his business skills. When he retired from teaching, he fulfilled his dream of travelling and living in many locations around the world, including Thailand where he met his partner Jan and they raised their daughter Helen. They lived between their homes in Brandon and in Thailand but when Allen was diagnosed with cancer, he spent his remaining days under the care of the doctors at the Brandon Regional Hospital. We could always poke fun about his slow and steady country drives his 'rubber necking tours' and his quick trips that could turn into daylong excursions. Allen would always entertain a crowd with his numerous stories of his great adventures in far away places, and for these he will be greatly missed by all. We would like to thank all the nursing staff and Doctors at Brandon Regional Hospital and Brandon Assiniboine Centre for their kindness and compassion during this trying time. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home in Brandon, Manitoba, 332-8th Street. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations to be made in Allen's name to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.
