Obituary of Esther Knudsen
ESTHER KNUDSEN
Esther Knudsen passed away peacefully with her daughter Linda at her side on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the age of 91 years. Esther was the daughter of Alfred and Marie (Christiansen) Tasker of Redvers Saskatchewan. Her early years were spent on the farm helping her parents. During W.W. 2 Esther and her sisters did war work in Hamilton during the winter, then returning to help on the farm in the spring.
She married Ejner Knudsen in 1948 and together they raised four children. Moving to Brandon in 1962. She worked over 20 years at the Brandon Mental Health Center as a cook. Esther and Ejner loved to dance, play cards and entertain family and friends. Esther enjoyed the simpler things in life, family, cooking, gardening (to a point) and traveling. Esther and her sisters, May and Edna really enjoyed going to England to visit relatives. Ejner and Esther visited Hawaii and made several trips west to visit family. After retiring she started volunteering at Central Community Center and entertaining at nursing homes with the Golden Swingers.
After being married more than fifty years Ejner passed away in November 1998. Esther spent a few years enjoying her family and grandchildren until she met a special friend, Vern Parker and moved to Portage. They enjoyed traveling for a few years until Vern passed away. She came back to Brandon and moved into Parkview Seniors Residence. She really enjoyed living there and taking part in the activities until she had to move to Valleyview personal Care Home in 2009.
Esther is survived by daughter Linda (Ivan) Baker; Their daughter Jennifer (Ning) Chen and their boys Brady, Tyler and Kolby. Their son Brian (Raquelle); children Tyler and Camryn. Daughter Heather (John) Boucher their son Steven and daughter Nicole and her son Dade. Son Donald Knudsen of Sparwood B.C. his daughter Karen and her daughter Gerica, his son Kevin and his children and youngest daughter Angie and her children. Daughter Colleen Knudsen (Don Motheral) and her sons Derrick and Greg Carson.
Esther is survived by a sister May Redmond of Watford Ontario and a Sister in law Mary Tasker of Redvers Saskatchewan. There are also numerous nieces and nephews and several great grand children
She was predeceased by her father and mother and brothers Harry and Walter and sisters Alice and Edna.
A graveside service will be held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens on Monday May 14, 2012 at 2.00 p.m. with Pastor Jason Zinko of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating. Urn bearers will be great grandchildren Kolby Chen and Camryn Baker.
