Obituary of Rozalia "Rose" Tropin
TROPIN: Rozalia (Rose) Tropin, who called Brandon home for 59 years and who lived in Yorkton for the past six years, died suddenly but peacefully on March 31, 2012 at 84 years of age. Rose was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Rose was born in Krakow, Poland to Mathew and Agnes Pluta and grew up on the family farm with her siblings Stanley, Nelly and Teresa before the Second World War set her on the path to Canada and into the loving arms of her husband, Alexsander. Rose was a resilient person and her wartime journey included a period of forced labour in Germany and at 15 years old being separated from her family. Rose stayed on in Germany as a free labourer before immigrating to Brandon in 1948. Rose worked first as a housekeeper followed by 35 years as a nurse's aide at Brandon Mental Health Centre. Rose met Alexsander Tropin at the Palladium, the social gathering place of the day, where she also met many of her lifelong friends. Rose and Alexsander married in 1950 and they had one child, John. Alexsander and Rose were inseparable until his death in 1985. Their son, John, married Sharon and the "Bullee bunch" became their extended family. Rose loved cats and her garden. She loved a good laugh and her many dear friends. Rose has three grandchildren Adam, Philip (Lea), and Ann (Tyler) who, with their parents, loved eating her delicious perogies, loved teasing and being teased by Grandma Rose and who will miss her forever. Her funeral was held April 4, 2012 in Brandon at St. Augustine's Church with interment at Brandon Cemetery. The family wishes to thank those who have shared their sympathy and memories of Rose, and thank Father James Ahaneku and the staff of Brockie Donovan for helping to celebrate the life of Rose.
