Obituary of Vivianne Bicknell

BICKNELL: Vivianne Bicknell, née Maguet, of Brandon, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 9, 2012 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Vivianne was born to Jean-Pierre and Marie Louise Maguet in Dauphin, MB on June 7, 1928. She spent her early years on the family farm at Ste. Rose du Lac and at the cottage at Clear Lake. A graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Winnipeg, and the University of Manitoba, Vivianne spent her early career as a home economist with the Canadian Department of Fisheries in Ottawa. After her marriage to Ken in 1953, she made Brandon her home. Over the years, Vivianne used her talents as a restaurateur, realtor, interior design instructor, co-owner of the Specialty Shop with her sister-in-law Noreen, and Chair of the Unemployment Insurance Board of Referees. Many long-time Brandon residents will remember enjoying Vivianne's pecan pie at the Suburban Restaurant. She was a member of Kinettes and K-40, and was active in the Francophone community in Brandon. Vivianne had a deep appreciation for art, music, literature and fashion. Creative and stylish, she prided herself in providing her family with a beautiful home. She will long be remembered as a wonderful hostess, a gourmet cook and for her beautiful gardens in Brandon and Clear Lake. Viv and Ken enjoyed many vacations in Mexico, trips to Europe and a trip around the world. The highlight of their travels was their visit to Vivianne's father's birthplace in Bretagne, France. Vivianne is survived by her husband Ken, children Monique (Brian Danaher), Michelle (Gordon McFadden), Ken (Laurie), Catherine (Martin Nelson) and Vivian (Darcy Lynne) and ten grandchildren who were the joy of Mémère's life, Kendra, Kyle, Nicole, Danielle, Marcia, Sydney, Bridget, Drew, Audrey and Eric. Prayers will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 328 - 8th Street on Thursday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327 – 4th Street, at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2012, with Fr.
