Obituary of David Bowman
David “Dave” Eugene Bowman passed away January 26th, 2014 at the age of 56 after a 5-year battle with cancer. Dave was born in Portland, Oregon to Donald and Geneva Bowman. Don’s Air Force career took the family to Virginia, Japan, Utah, and Germany before settling in Espanola, Washington where Dave graduated from Medical Lake High School in 1975. It was in Spokane, Washington that he met and married the love of his life, Anne Swanson. He spent several years working in the hotel industry with Travelodge/Cavanaugh’s before beginning his 34-year career with Payless/Rite Aid. While working for them, Dave lived in Salem, Bend, Coos Bay/North Bend, and Eugene, Oregon. It was in Bend, OR that precious daughter Caitlin Rose was born to Dave and Anne in 1988. Dave had diverse interests including racing homing pigeons, fishing, golfing, and college sports, especially the Oregon Ducks. He was training for the Eugene Half Marathon when he was diagnosed with cancer and was an ironman throughout treatment. Dave was a dedicated, hard-working, fun-loving, devoted, generous, playful, and loving family man who will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. He was preceded in death by his father and great nephew, Elijah. Survivors include his wife of 33 years Anne, daughter Caitlin, mother Geneva, siblings Keith, Richard, Susan, Kent, and Brian, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and friends so close they feel like family. He has a large and loyal fan club. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 31st at 2 pm at Musgrove Mortuary with a reception to follow. Remembrances in Dave’s name can be given to the American Cancer Society or Food for Lane County. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
