Obituary of Florence Gilbert

GILBERT: Florence Kathleen Gilbert passed away peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2011 at her residence, Fairview Home, at the age of 87 years. Florence was born on August 29, 1924, to Fred and Kate Gilbert. Florence was the only daughter of six children. She spent most of her life on the family farm. Florence enjoyed cooking, gardening and visits with family, friends and neighbors. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She loved spending time with family. Left to mourn her passing is her brother Alec, sister-in-law Wilma, nieces Ruby (Norm), Bev (Allan), nephews Fred (Alice), Ed (Sheri), great nieces Wendy, Shawna, Jamie Dee, great nephews Derek, Ronald and families. Florence was predeceased by her parents, brothers More, Stan, Clarence and Don, sisters-in-law Isobel and Ann, and special friend, John Watson. A Funeral Service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Chris Arthur officiating. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Florence may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Unit 3, 824 – 18th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 5B7.
