Obituary of Ellen Hansen

Ellen Moller Hansen of Eugene, Oregon passed away on January 24, 2014. Ellen was born on April 16, 1925 in Strand, Denmark to Svend Aage and Ane Moller-Olsen Hansen.She immigrated to Canada in 1928 and was raised in Calgary, Alberta. She graduated from public school with scholastic honors and graduated from the nursing program at Calgary General Hospital also with honors.Ellen married Harvey Curtis Hansen in 1948 and moved to South Dakota where their first son was born. In 1953 the family moved to Oregon and lived in Stanfield, Sandy, and Corvallis prior to arriving in Eugene in 1959. Along the way they had two additional sons.Early in her career Ellen was an operating room nurse. While raising her family in Eugene she was employed in a local physicians' office. She later worked at the University of Oregon Health Center and retired from there in 1990.Ellen enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, entertaining, and most of all her family and friends. She was an active member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and Danish Brotherhood.She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harvey Curtis Hansen; sons Harvey, Glenn, and Robert, and their spouses: Lavonne, Tracy, and Janie, in addition to three grandsons. She is also survived by her sister, Gudrun Pedersen, of Canada.A memorial service will be held at Bethesda Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00pm. Ellen's final resting place will be West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a remembrances may be made in her name to Bethesda Lutheran Church.Arrangements entrusted to England’s Eugene Memorial Chapel.
