Obituary of Rose Marie Ellen McArthur
McARTHUR (Nee Pratt): Rose Marie Ellen. Rose was born on March 30, 1947 on the Oak
River Reserve (Sioux Valley Dakota Nation). Rose always had a chuckle and a beautiful
laugh for all the people she knew. She brought warmth and a smile to many and leaves a
void in the lives of those she cherished. Her passing was sudden, immediately after
attending her niece's funeral, the late Dr. Tina Wasicuna, M.D. She passed suddenly on
September 1, 2011, the very day, five years ago, that her late special uncle, the Rev.
Donald Russell Pratt was buried. Rose is survived by her loving husband of 44 years,
Louis
Bud McArthur; her sons, Delmar (Jackie), Emmett (Melanie), Bonnor (Brittany), Levi
(N'Tonis); her daughters, Holly (Todd) Hack, Sherris and Dashelle. Her grandchildren were
Devon, Brandi, Brett, Kayla, Barrett, Chelsea Rose, Tara Shae, Koda Lane, "Bubba",
Radiance, Kincaid. Her stepmother, Dorothy Pratt; her brothers and sisters, Mike Hotain, Murray Pratt, Dean Pratt, Darryl Pratt, Ward Pratt, Patricia Pratt, Agatha Pratt, Michelle Pratt, Donna Pratt, Ramona (Stan) Fontaine, Rowena (Silas) Cardinal, Audrey Wombdiska (Frank), Laurie Pratt (Lawrence), Karen Pratt, Deborah Pratt, Tracy Pratt, Katherine Hockley (Fred) and numerous nephews and nieces.
Rose was predeceased by her oldest daughter, Tara Sherisse McArthur, Father and Chief Matthew Allan Pratt and her Kunshie, Emma Pratt and her brothers, Brian Pratt, James (Jimmy) Pratt, Mother, Mary Hapa, Sister, Bonita Pratt.
Wake services will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Veteran's Hall, Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Burial services will be held at the same location on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Pratt Cemetery with Father Don officiating.
