Obituary of Jerald Kornman

Jerald Stephen Kornman "Jerry" passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the age of 82. He was born July 31, 1931 in Lamar, Colorado to Harry and Lucille Kornman. While working on a ranch during a huge snowstorm he decided to head to warmer climes and, at the age of 17, joined the Navy. Thirty years in service took him all over the world to Hawaii, Turkey, Japan, Alaska, Italy, the Dominican Republic, Maryland and Virginia. As a member of the Naval Security Group, he achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 and received several Navy Commendation & Meritorious Service Medals throughout his distinguished career. He moved to Creswell, OR in 1982 where he enjoyed retirement with a wicked sense of humor, gardening, cooking, a love of dogs, crossword puzzles, telling great stories, eBay and the Kare-n-Bear program for foster children. He is survived by his wife, Juanita, whom he married in 1962 in Laurel, Maryland, and their three daughters, Stephanie, Kimberly, son-in-law Brian Seeley, Leslie, and granddaughter Cassandra, as well as his brother, Richard, and more family and friends than you could count. He will be remembered for his generous heart, great sense of humor and positive spirit. A true legacy of joy and caring to those who knew him. A Celebration of Life Potluck and sharing of stories will be held on Sunday, February 16, 12:30pm, at the Eugene Church of Christ (2424 Norkenzie Road, Eugene OR 97408). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eugene Church of Christ Kare-n-Bear program.
