Obituary of Mary S. McDonald

McDONALD: Mary S. McDonald of Brandon, passed away peacefully at her residence, Dinsdale Personal Care Home, on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the age of 90 years. Mary was born on March 15, 1921 at Brandon. She lived at 430-12th Street for many years and she enjoyed spending her summers at the cottage at Clear Lake. Mary received her education at Park Elementary School, Brandon Collegiate, the University of Manitoba and Brandon Business College. In approximately 1941, she started working for the Bank of Montreal in Brandon. In 1964/65, she worked for the Bank of Montreal in Victoria, BC for about a year, and then moved back to Brandon. Mary retired from the Bank in 1976. Mary was a member of the Mardi Club and she took great pleasure in gardening, her dogs and travelling. She is survived by her brother Angus G. McDonald and sister-in-law, Gloria McDonald. Mary was predeceased by her father Angus K. McDonald and mother, Hazel Marie (Alguire) McDonald. A service to celebrate Mary's life was held at St. Matthew's Cathedral on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with The Rt. Rev. Jim Njegovan and The Very Rev. Robin Walker officiating. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary may be made to St. Matthew's Cathedral, 403-13th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4P9 or to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th Street E., Brandon, MB R7A 7M6.
