A far distant friend has passed away and it hurts so bad. Even though we never met I felt so close to Colleen; my canadian sister. In my future plans a visit in Canada was included. I really wanted to met this special girl/woman that I wrote to for 34 years. I´m so sorry that will never be, but maybe I´ll come to Canada one day anyhow. It would be nice to see the family that she talked so dearly about!
Rest in peace, Colleen without pain and suffering. We´ll met on the other side!
Love always Carina in Sweden

Rick and family,
It was with deep regret that I read of Colleen's passing. While I did not know her well, I believe I knew her through your own dedication to family and career; an accomplishment you could not have achieved without her love and support - a love you both obviously shared.
The past years have no doubt been a challenge for you all. I hope you can find some solace in the pain finally ending for Colleen and that your own pain will be lessened by the memories which keep her close.
Sincerest sympathy,
Bob

In one's lifetime one often does not have the honour to meet very special people. I had that honour a little over 6 years ago. I met through my very good friend, Rick Degagne, his wife Colleen. It was truly an amazing eye opener in my journey in life. The instant I walked into the Degagne house, I sensed love, family, and happiness. It could not only be seen everywhere, pictures on the walls etc, it was just ... just an air that could be sensed. When I met Colleen for the first time that visit in October of 2005, I realized right away who the driving force was behind this special aura. The last time I saw Colleen, the fall of 2010, I saw a person struggling, but I saw that same drive and determination in her. I am deeply saddened by her passing. I woulld like to express my heartfelt condolences to Rick, and the children, they have lost a real once in a lifetime perfect person, a human being who I had the honour to meet. Lynn and I send our love and our prayers. Respectfully, Bill Crowley

To Rick and family: I was so sorry to hear about Colleen's passing. Even though I only met Colleen a few times within the past 5-6 months I felt like I knew her much longer through our mutual connection with Dawn. Her seemingly unwaivering spirit, determination and zest for life and caring and commitment to her family and friends was inspirational. I know she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Please know that there are many people thinking and praying for your family at this time.
Nancy Wallace (Home Care Nurse and former pupil of "Mr. Degagne"). P.S. I believe he taught me when he and your mom were dating so you can do the math!
