Obituary of Florence "Flo" Jean Regina Bieber

It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother and Grandmother, Florence Bieber, with her entire family by her side at the St. Boniface Hospital. Mom leaves behind her four children Jeff (Nancy), Guy (Jody), Cindy and Greg (Gail) and her eight grandchildren Reghan, Stacey, Brock, Serena, Justine, Sofia, Rebecca and Natasha. She is also survived by her sister June and Lucille (Ed), sister-in-law Jane, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Irma (1970), husband, Herb (1973), father, Joe Lang (1986), brother, Norm Lang (1988, her brother-in-law Ken Olenick (2007) and her nephew Troy Lang. Florence was born in Winnipeg to Joe and Irma Lang and was one of four children. She grew up on St. John's Avenue where she attended St. Joseph's Catholic school. Mom was a model student, who developed the most beautiful handwriting. At sixteen she met dad at a playground. A few years later they married, in 1952. Shortly after, they moved to Brandon. Where her and dad started their new life and created a new business, Inland Radiator, which is still in operation today. They moved into their first house on Fourth Street, where she had three children before moving to a newly built home on 94 Ashgrove in 1963. Here she had her fourth child. She lived there for 42 years before moving into a condo for the remaining years of her life. Florence worked for the Brandon Sun for a brief time in the Classified Ad department. Once she started raising her family she devoted any work time she had towards the family business.Mom was a social butterfly and made friends easily. In her early years she met many of her friends through her affiliation with Association of Community Travellers (ACT), Ladies bowling league, and her neighbourhood on Ashgrove. While maintaining many of those lifelong friendships she added many more to her circle of friends through her twenty seven years of annual snowbird trips to Florida and of course her Bingo. Mom's many joys included cooking and baking in which she was very accomplished and her results thoroughly enjoyed. Her talent for sewing was the envy of many and there are many family and friends over the years that looked outstanding in the outfits she made for them. In her early years she was a gifted accordion teacher and player. Above all, mom loved to laugh. Simply put, people just loved being around her. She was very proud of her children and adored her grandchildren. Her sudden leaving caught us off guard. We are left with much of her legacy in various manners in the way we live our lives. She will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and entire medical staff at St. Boniface Hospital for the outstanding care and professionalism they provided for our mother from the moment she entered the hospital, in particular the staff on E6. A Celebration of Mom's life will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a cancer charity of your choice.
