Obituary of Homer McCullough
Jake McCullough, 93 of Springfield, passed away February 2, 2014 of age related causes. He was born April 29, 1920 in Eagle City, Oklahoma to Archie Benjamin McCullough and Ruby Edna Linville. He married Corlyss D. Lucas Northup on December 29, 1971 in Eugene, Oregon. Jake was a man who loved gardening, wood crafting and old-time fiddling with his friends and grandsons. During WWII, he proudly served his country in the South Pacific as a Navy Chief Commisary Steward on the USS Bougainville. All who knew him loved Jake for his remarkable sense of humor, high standards, and principles. The large family he loved so dearly would all agree there are not many men in the world as fine as Jake McCullough. Survivors include his wife, Corlyss D. McCullough; a son, Michael McCullough of Bend; a daughter Sharon Smith of Eugene; step-son Randy Northup of Springfield; stepdaughters Bonnie Solari of Eugene, Helen Deese of Eugene, Peggy Hoecker of Albany; a sister Leona Schrock, twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by spouse Sharon V. Rhodes McCullough in 1970, daughters Patty Bonine in 1990, Linda Cabrera in 2006, brothers Keith, Ray and Frank and a sister Josephine Gilkey. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 1:00pm at Eugene Christian Fellowship, 89780 N. Game Farm Road, Eugene, 97408. Remembrances may be made to the Disabled Veterans.
