"Remembering My Grandmother"
My Gramma may not have had money but she was rich in love.
She loved to give simple pleasures like sitting on her veranda, talking and sipping rootbeer floats, like having porridge for breakfast, (it was whipped with salt and butter and served with brown sugar and cereal cream), like after a bath being wrapped up in warm flannel sheets direct from the oven, like listening to records and dancing to Don Messer, like getting an ice cream and driving to the fairgrounds, like telling childhood stories about the farm and her dog Buster.
She loved to laugh together, play Backgammon with me and listen to my problems. She liked to go out for dinner and come with me to Church.
She was one of my very best friends and I'll miss her very much.
