Obituary of Arthur Edward Howell

HOWELL: Arthur Edward. With broken hearts we announce the passing of our father and friend, Arthur Howell, on September 10, 2010. Arthur was born in the East End of Brandon on November 1, 1935. He attended King George and Earl Haig schools. Much of his early years were spent with family and friends hanging out at the East End Community Center. In June 1957, Art married Gwen Lougheed and they settled in the East End to raise their family. They had four children Doreen, Doug, Cathy and Lori-Li. Many summers were spent at Sandy Lake fishing and boating. Art also enjoyed duck hunting and numerous fixer-upper projects. Art is survived by his four children Doreen (Doug), Doug, Cathy, and Lori-Li (Sandy). Also grandchildren Teri-Li (Justin), Dylan, Catherine-Anne, Branden, Neale, Jessica, Braden and Sarah and one great grandchild Samuel Arthur. He is also survived by his two sisters Joyce and Ruth, brother Jim, numerous nieces and nephews, family, special friends and acquaintances. He was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Cecilia Howell, brothers George, Don, and Russ, brother-in-law Lionel, sister-in-law Norma and infant grandson Jeremy. A very special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Palliative Care floor in the Assiniboine Centre. There will be private family burial at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Art's Life will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the East End Community Center, Park Street and Victoria Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the East End Community Center or to a charity of your choice.
