Obituary of Ursula Renate Noseworthy

NOSEWORTHY: Ursula Renate (Parke). Beloved wife of Bill, mother of Lilian and William, passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on September 11, 2010, after a short but courageous battle against cancer with her family by her side. She was 67. Ursula was born on July 15, 1943, in Maltsch, Schlesien (Germany). She was the second youngest of seven children. During World War II, migrating with her family, Ursula settled in Bodenfelde (West Germany). She attended school and entered an apprenticeship program in a local butcher and deli shop. In 1967, she began working for the Canadian Forces at Fort Prince of Wales in Northern Germany where she met her future husband, Bill. In 1969, while still in Germany, Bill and Ursula had their daughter, Lilian. In 1971, she left her homeland and moved to C.F.B. Shilo, Manitoba, where they welcomed their son, William in 1973. Ursula embraced her military family life and life in Canada. In June 1982, she proudly became a Canadian citizen. The family moved often, but Ursula understood that it was all a part of being a military wife. Manitoba always held a special place in her heart and she called Shilo her home. On Bill's retirement from the Forces, they chose an acreage in Cottonwoods. In April 1990, she opened a new chapter in her life becoming a grandmother to Adam. Marcus, her second grandson, came in February 1997. Throughout her life, Ursula was a proud homemaker, a devoted friend, and a passionate volunteer. She loved being outdoors, especially walking her dogs on the prairies. She was an active member of St. Paul's Anglican Church and the Lioness Club of Wawanesa. Ursula was affectionately called "Nan" by her grandsons. She always had a place in her home and her heart for everyone she met, becoming "Nan" to many others as well. Predeceased by her parents, Emil and Maria Parke in 1972, and brothers Gunter, Walter and Ziegfried Parke. Left to mourn are her husband Bill, sisters Erica (Otto) and Margarete (Willi), brother Ulrich (Lilo), and sister-in-law, Dora, daughter Lilian (Trowbridge), son William (Noseworthy), sons-in-law Steven Trowbridge and Wayne Chacun, grandsons Adam and Marcus Trowbridge, as well as many other relatives and friends. Services will be held in Brandon, Manitoba at Brockie Donovan Funeral Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at a later date.
