Obituary of Carole Ann Ginter
GINTER: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carole Ann Ginter. Carole lost her battle with cancer in Brandon, Manitoba on May 31, 2010 at the age of 66 years. In her own words, her family was her life. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, a giving friend to all who knew her, and most of all, a loving spouse and soul mate to Fred. Carole was born December 18, 1943 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba to parents Bob and Mabel Charlton. She was raised on the family farm in Bagot and attended school in Bagot and MacGregor. Carole was active in sports, most notably ladies fastball and curling. At the age of 17, Carole moved to Portage and started her long career as a waitress. She married Don Ginter in 1964 and her two sons Jeff and Duane were born within her first six years of marriage. Carole and family moved to Deloraine in 1969. Following a divorce, she relocated to Weyburn, Saskatchewan in 1980. Carole's life with Fred began in 1983 and resulted in her returning to Deloraine to be together. As a couple, Fred and Carole moved to Brandon soon after and eventually to Sprucewoods in 2001. Carole took great pride as a hostess/waitress and concluded her working career at Smitty's in Brandon where she excelled for 16 years. She had a passion for service, for making people feel special and for unselfishly giving herself to others. She valued her social life, her friends and as a result, stayed young at heart. While her last couple of years were difficult, she demonstrated incredible courage and love. She wants her family and friends to remember her "the way she was." Anyone who knew Carole would understand and will never forget her. Carole leaves to mourn her soul mate, Fred Dujardin of Sprucewoods; son Jeff (Brenda) Ginter and grandchildren Jason and Kelsey of Dawson Creek, B.C.; son Duane Ginter of Portage la Prairie, MB; her step daughter Patti (Tuffy) Kirkwood and grandsons Cory and Joey of Calgary, AB; and step son Randy (Maureen) Dujardin and granddaughters Kia and Jade of Brandon. She will also be sadly missed by siblings Connie (Allan) Breckenridge of Edmonton, AB, Terry (Dave) McCartney of Vernon, B.C., and Bill Charlton of Edmonton, AB and their children. A Service of Remembrance was well attended on June 4, 2010 at the Brockie Donovan Chapel in Brandon. In memory of Carole, donations may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, "Palliative Care," 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3.
