Obituary of Edna Jean Beare

BEARE: Edna Jean Beare, beloved wife of Gordon Beare of Lions Manor, Brandon, passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, March 15, 2010 at the age of 89 years. Edna was the youngest of eight children, born Edna Jean Carson, in Teulon, Manitoba on January 22, 1921. She grew up and attended school in Teulon and Fraserwood, Manitoba. She took her grade 12 in Winnipeg and Teachers Training in Gimli, Manitoba. Edna taught in Nesbitt and then Delton, a little one room school house in 1946. She met Gordon in the fall of 1946 upon his arrival home from the War. They were engaged on Valentines Day 1947 and were married July 12, 1947 in Winnipeg. Edna enjoyed a very busy farm life from 1947 to 1973 raising their three children, Linda (Fisher), Bruce and Ed. She was a talented seamstress, sewing for the family and her culinary skills were beyond compare. Edna was very active in a number of groups and organizations in the many communities she lived in. In 1973, she moved with husband Gordon to Camp Wannakumbac at Onanole where they lived very happily for nine years as caretakers of the camp. 1982 found them living in Wawanesa surrounded by family and good friends as well as spending many summers in Killarney at the campground and winters in Texas until 2002. In 2002, Edna and Gordon moved into Lions Manor where she has enjoyed the last eight years "in paradise" as she would often say. Edna started painting when they moved to Onanole at age 50 and it was here she found her love for painting which soon became her passion. She was very proud of every picture and enjoyed sharing them with many of her friends and family. Edna's personality just bubbled with fun and charm. She loved to curl, enjoyed music and dancing, as well as games of all kinds. Edna loved to entertain with lots of family, friends and good food. Besides the love of her life Gordon, her husband, Edna will fondly be remembered and missed terribly by her children: Linda (Mark) Fisher of Nesbitt, Bruce (Janie) of Wawanesa, Ed (Myrna Myers) of Nesbitt; seven grandchildren, six great--grandchildren; and sister Bessie Anderson of Hobbs Manor, Brandon and all of her many friends. Edna was predeceased by her parents, three sisters, four brothers and daughter-in-law Trishie (Ed) Beare. The funeral service was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. with Mr. Lawrence McInnes, Brockie Donovan Funeral Celebrant, officiating. Interment was at the Minnewawa Cemetery and a time of fellowship and refreshments followed at the Nesbitt Hall.
