Obituary of June Margaret Erica Robins-Moldeen
ROBINS-MOLDEEN (NEÉ POLLOCK): It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, June Margaret Erica, which occurred at the Brandon Assiniboine Centre on January 30, 2010. June was born in Winnipeg on June 11, 1917, the eldest of two children born to James and Jean Pollock. June received her education in Regina and Brandon. June married Clair Robins in 1941 and they settled on a farm in the Brandon Hills District, having one son. Clair and June had 21 years together before Clair's passing in 1962. June was involved in all aspects of community life. She was Secretary Treasurer of the Cornwallis Community Center for seven years. She was a member of the Brandon Hills Busy Bees and Brandon Horticultural Society. She was Secretary Treasurer of the Manitoba Farmer's Union Gorrie Local #3 and a member of the Eastern Star. She was also a past member of the Crocus Senior A.N.A.F. Unit #10. In 1967, when her son, Don, got married, she moved to Brandon to pursue other interests. June took a business course and was soon employed at Staveckney's Real Estate. She also worked at A.C. Clark Insurance Agency, then with the Children's Aid Society with the Department of Health and Social Development. Moving on, June worked as a Homemaker Supervisor with Home Care until her retirement in 1982. In 1976, June married Norman Moldeen of Brandon. The two of them got involved in the antique business. They also travelled extensively through Canada and U.S.A. Among her special interests were family, friends, ceramics, knitting, shuffleboard, travelling and playing the piano. June was a dedicated family person and was incredibly proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She celebrated their accomplishments and inspired and encouraged them in their ventures. June had a true love of life and was always there for family and friends. June was predeceased by her first husband Clair Robins, second husband Norman Moldeen, her sister-in-law Peggy Pollock and her parents James and Jean Pollock. Left to cherish her memory are her son Donald and wife Diane Robins of Brandon, grandchildren Michelle (Troy) Luhowy of Rossburn, Trevor (Shane) Robins of Brandon and great grandchildren Reid Luhowy, Tristen and Chaz Robins. She is also survived by three stepsons, Larry (Karen) Macialek of Langley, B.C., Brian (Sandi) Macialek of Brandon, Dennis Macialek of Calgary, AB; two stepdaughters Brenda (Ron) Dubois of Brandon, Lorraine Verinder of Calgary, AB and also many step grandchildren and great grandchildren. June is also survived by her brother James Pollock of Brooks, AB, (Mary) of Ireland, sister-in-law Melba Molde of Moose Jaw, SK, Margaret Molde of Chaplin, SK and many nieces and nephews. The Ceremony to Celebrate June's Life was held at First Presbyterian Church on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship at the Church. Arlene Robertson and Rev. Dr. Dong Ha Kim officiated the service. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery.
