Obituary of George Edmund "Ed" Sheardown

SHEARDOWN: – George Edmund "Ed" Sheardown passed away at Brandon Regional Health Centre on January 30, 2010 at the age of 87. Ed was born on May 4, 1922 to George and Katherine Sheardown near Hamiota, Manitoba. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie; children Doug (Wallianna), grandsons Gerald and Christopher (Judy); Reg, grandchildren Brent and Jana (Mike) McMurray and their mother Gaye; Kay; Georgia (Dave) Hanwell, granddaughters Cecilie, Alicia and Brenna; Shari Maguire, granddaughter Jennifer and her father Darren. He will also be missed by brother-in-law, Joe Roscoe and sister-in-law, Jean Mackie, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Katherine; sisters, Tena Anderson, Net Johnson, Marie Brooks, Eleanor Smith, Doreen Roscoe; brother, Jack and brother-in-laws, Clarence and Red Mackie. He was a journeyman electrician with G.E. Smith & Sons, Ab Benn, Clark Electric, Brandon General Hospital and Assiniboine Community College retiring in 1985. He was one of the implementers of the Association for the Mentally Retarded, now known as COR Enterprises. During his life he loved to golf, 5-pin bowl and listen to fiddle music. At his request, there will be no funeral service. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Hamiota, Manitoba. Memorial donations may be made to COR Enterprises, 364 Park Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 7A8 or a charity of your choice if so desired.
