Obituary of Lynn O'Rourke

Lynn F O’Rourke was born September 13, 1951 to DeWitt Richard Smith and Frances Mae LaSalle Smith in San Francisco, California. She passed away February 11, 2014 in Springfield, Oregon of cancer.Her school-age years were spent in Grass Valley-Nevada City, California. She graduated with an Associate Degree from Santa Rosa Community College, after which she worked in San Francisco, in banking. She moved to Oregon in the early 70’s. She spent several years working in banks. In 2000, she began working for Fred Sittner in his financial firm, and transitioned with his firm to become Client Service Manager for Sittner and Nelson, until her passing.Lynn loved working with clients, and she was loved by her clients and co-workers. Everybody loved Lynn! She had a wonderful, quirky sense of humor – she really could have been a stand-up comedienne. She loved life, she dreamed big, and could tell stories in vivid color. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles. Her memory was endless.And, oh, how she loved her dogs. They were her children.Travel was something she greatly enjoyed. Some of her adventures include cruises to the Mexican Riviera and Alaska, where she and Bob zip lined through the forest. She spent a vacation in Montana, working on a cattle ranch. She also rafted down the Colorado River with a group of co-workers.She loved country music, especially Brad Paisley!She met Bob, the love of her life in February of 2007 through e-harmony.com. They were married June 14, 2008 and she happily accepted Bobby as her son. She was so excited to become Ariel’s grandmother in 2010.In September of 2011, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought and won that battle with the support and love of neighbors, friends, and family.She is survived by her husband, Robert J “Bob” O’Rourke, Jr, her step-son, Robert J “Bobby” O’Rourke III, of Portland, step-daughter, April A O’Rourke and granddaughter, Ariel, of Vancouver, Washington, and brother, Richard D Smith, of Eugene.There will be a Celebration of Lynn’s life on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 3:30pm, Garden Way Church, 231 North Garden Way, Eugene, Oregon.
