Obituary of Murray Garden
GARDEN: With sad hearts the family of Murray (Moe) Donald Garden announce his sudden passing on Thursday July 16th, 2020, in Nesbitt, Manitoba, at the age of 63.
Murray was born in Brandon, Manitoba on July 20, 1956. There, he attended school at McLaren, George Fitton and Harrison High, where he made friends fast and many. He kept those friendships throughout his life.
Murray married Glenda Gallinger in 1981. A family of two daughters followed. They lived in Brandon until they moved to Nesbitt, MB in 1993 where they enjoyed rural life.
In his early years he had various jobs. He worked with a local dairy company, with C.P.R. , in construction and landscaping, with the City of Brandon waste department, and more. Around 1982 he transferred to being an Operator at the Brandon Wastewater Treatment Plant, which included achieving his wastewater and 3rd Class Power Engineer tickets.
After retiring from the City of Brandon in 2010, he enjoyed casual work with neighbouring farmers doing spring seeding and harvest help. Murray then worked as the Nesbitt rural route mail delivery employee with Canada Post until his time of passing.
Murray was a natural athlete, playing volleyball, baseball, curling and more. He spent his youth enjoying the outdoors. Murray was an avid fisherman, catching many Master Anglers throughout his life, and going on fishing trips with family and friends. He was happy to have taken a week-long fishing trip with a friend to Cranberry Portage a week before his passing. Murray was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and loved to hit the road.
He is survived by his wife Glenda (nee Gallinger), daughters Andrea Speirs, Erin Garden (Dale Seafoot), and his grandchildren Mardigan, Ethan, Vincent and Julia. He is survived by his mother Emma Garden and sister Diane Szczepanski, many extended family members, and dear friends. He is predeceased by his father Don Garden.
A graveside service was held at the Minnewawa Cemetery on July 25th, 2020, where Murray was laid to rest. The Urn bearers were grandsons Mardigan Garden and Ethan Speirs. The Eulogy was spoken by Erin Garden and Dale Seafoot, as well as nephew Cory Szczepanski.
Murray was an amiable free spirit who lived life to the fullest. He loved music, fishing, motorcycles, football (Go Steelers!), and had many beloved pets over his lifetime. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and caretaker for his family. Donations made in the memory of Murray can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1379 Kenaston Blvd., Winnipeg, MB, R3P 2T5 or an animal charity of your choice.
