Obituary of Shirley Whelpton

WHELPTON: Shirley Margaret (Seater) was born in the RM of Daly on June 7, 1930 and passed away peacefully on June 1, 2020 at Brandon Regional Health Centre with her family at her side. She is survived by sons, Ryan (Cherri) and Dale; grandchildren, Angela (Cale), Darren (Kaylie), Luke and Clark; great granddaughters, Oaklyn and Harlyn; sisters, Beverly (Robert), Marilyn (Tosh) and sister-in-law, Dorothy. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey; sister, Elaine and brother, Edmund. Shirley married Harvey Whelpton, June 8, 1957 and they settled in the Kirkham's Bridge area. Shirley was very involved in the community and church. She was an active member in ACW, St. James Choir, Kirkham's Bridge WI, Hospital Guild and Harrow Community Club. She always took time to follow sons and grandchildren in their sports and other events. Later in life Shirley and Harvey spent winters in Texas, enjoying golf, dancing and trips to Mexico. Shirley and Harvey retired to Brandon in 2007. A private family Memorial Service was held at Brockie Donovan Chapel on June 5, 2020. Interment for Shirley and Harvey followed at Roseville Cemetery. Donations in memory of Shirley may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1379 Kenaston Blvd., Winnipeg, MB, R3P 2T5; Rivers and Area Community Foundation, Box 714, Rivers, MB, R0K 1X0 or to a charity of choice.
