Richard Plante posted a condolence
Thursday, May 14, 2020
I wish to thank all of my family and friends for their undivided support during our time of mourning.
During these trying times it has been hard not to be able to give Mariette the proper farewell that she so truly deserved.
We have all prayed and said our goodbyes to her.
Now it is time for our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to carry the torch.
Again, many thanks to all for the condolences to me and my family.
To you Mariette, my beloved wife,
I hope that we can carry our cross as well as you carried yours and maybe the good Lord will allow us to enter the gates of heaven.
Mariette Rest In Peace. Love , your husband Richard

Richard and Family,Our condolences on the passing of Mariette. I enjoyed the many shifts I worked with Mariette at Brandon Mental Health Centre. The staff referred to her as "Plante". When I first met her, that is how she introduced herself. I never knew her first name until months later! I also looked forward to the conversations you and I had at the Brandon YMCA. May you find comfort in the love and companionship of your family and friends at this sad time. Dave and Jolene Patterson

Tante had so many sayings and quirks! She was an awsome and unique person. Can you hear her? Can you see her? Close your eyes! She throws up her hands and says "Whatcha gonna do?" And she would carry on with her life as best she could. She was an inspiration. She will be missed.
My sympathies to all the family. "The beauty of a life well-lived never dies it continues to embrace and inspire us. May you find comfort in your loving memories." Love and hugs to you all.

I remember first visiting Mariette with my Mom(Gracia Chartier) then when I first moved into Brandon I lived two doors down from Mariette thus getting to know my cousins better. I will remember her for her sharp wit and smoking cigars. She will be remembered and missed by all. Love always and forever and say Hi to my Mom and Dad when you see them in Heaven.

As I re read old letters Mariette wrote to me, I ponder... She was my older sister. I admired her and wanted to be like her. Such a kind, loving sister. Through thick and thin she battled, even after falling off the hay rack, she was shaking but no bones broken for she was tough. I have fond memories of my childhood, for that was the sister who could tell us stories that were riveting to the end. Love you Mariette. See you again in heaven.

Wow, time flies. My sympathies to the whole family. Last time she came to visit us, she was sitting on our deck with her cigar in her hand and a huge smile on her face. She will always have a special place in my heart (Godmother). I'm really sorry that time and circumstances did not dictate that we could get to know all of you guys better (nephew, nieces, great nephew and nieces, and I don't know if we go down one more generation).
She will be missed.
